Pandora Series by Carolyn Hennesy

Pandora Atheneus Andromaeche Helena (or Pandy, for short) is on a quest to collect all the evils of the world.  Why? Well, because she opened the box one day at school and released them. Of course, this was all an accident but the Gods are mad and sent her out to right her wrong.  Each book follows the adventures of Pandy, with the help of her two friends, as she scours the world to collect each of the evils.  But what happens when the evils collect her?

I thoroughly enjoy this series.  Pandora is a lovable teenager who simply wanted to make an impression at school and the entire event went horribly wrong.  An idea we can all relate too!  I just love Pandy and the friends she meets along the way.  Each book is chocked full of humor and adventure as she tried to put each evil back in their rightful place: Pandora's Box.

Look for each book in the series: (1) Pandora Gets Jealous, (2) Pandora Gets Vain, (3) Pandora Gets Lazy, (4) Pandora Gets Heart, (5) Pandora Gets Angry.

The next in the series in expected in Spring 2012!

Reaper by Rachel Vincent

Tod is put in a tough predicament when he and his younger brother, Nash, are in a semi-fatal car accident.  As one with bean sidh heritage he has the chance to save his brother's life for his own.  Does he make a deal with the Reaper or does he turn his back on his brother?  Can he save himself while saving his brother?

I enjoyed reading this story right from the start.  Tod Hudson is a character you aren't sure you like at the beginning but begin to understand him as the story progresses.  Although this is a Novella from a series I've yet to read (Soul Screamers) I decided to give it a try anyway.  You can easily read the story without reading the others but I would suggest you start with the series first to get the full impact of the story.

Iron King by Julie Kagawa

Meghan Chase goes on a quest to find her little brother when she learns a changeling has taken his place at home.  Her best-friend Robbie, aka Puck, helps her as she travels through Nevernever the land of Fae; where they believe her brother has been taken.  She learns a lot about her herself through this quest and meets some unexpected friends along her journey .  She also meets Prince Ash from the Unseelie court who threatens, repeatedly, to kill her.  Although she originally plans to collect her brother and return to her normal life Meghan quick learns that things don't always turn out as she suspects.

Stories about the Faeries seem to be popular as of late and this series is no exception and it surely doesn't disappoint.  I had fun reading this story although the beginning was slow to get into.  Once on the ride I enjoyed the twists and turns of the plot.  The story makes for a believable tale.  Meghan encounters many obstacles that will either help or hurt her along the way as she attempts to rescue her brother from the evil Iron King.

If you like this book then try the next two in the series: Iron Daughter and Iron Queen!!!

Iron Prince comes out in the Fall of 2011! I, personally, cannot wait for the fourth installment of this exciting series.

Paranormalcy by Kiersten White

Evie is an orphan who works for the International Paranormal Containment Agency (IPCA).  Her job is to collect paranormal creatures and return them to the IPCA.  One creature she apprehends was found breaking into the IPCA and she finds out a lot more about herself then she imagined possible.

I loved this book and couldn't put it down. It is fast paced and packed with action.  You follow Evie as she 'bags & tags' paranormal creatures.  One day she finds out these creatures being murdered and she takes it upon herself to figure out the mystery.  However, the biggest mystery is finding out who she really is and what she'll do with that information.

Look for the sequel: Supernaturally coming out in October 2011!!!

The Wide-Awake Princess by E.D. Baker

Princess Annie is the only one in her kingdom unaffected by magic.  Her older sister, Princess Gwendolyn, is cursed at birth to fall into a deep sleep on her sixteenth birthday when she pricks her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel.  So, when the entire kingdom falls into a slumber on Princess Gwen’s 16th birthday, it is left up to Annie to find her sister’s ‘true love’ and bring him to the castle to break the spell.

This a wonderful version of Sleeping Beauty and a very fast read.  Annie is a character you can’t help but to root for and love.  In her travels she meets some interesting princes and characters.  I found the story to have perfect plot twists; Annie gets herself in to some pretty hysterical situations.  I highly recommend this book for anyone who loves a good love story with a strong female protagonist.
